We start with a couple of nice muleys Don and his son J.D. Tagged in Central Utah on this years muzzleloader hunt. Don says these two bucks were hanging in the same group, but taken four days apart. A great hunt with family and friends.
After the morning hunt everyone in Curtis's group headed back to camp for breakfast, but Curtis didn't. He had spotted this buck three times before the season opened and found him still in the area. His three boys did were even glad to help the ol' man out by haling out his quarters.
Check out this nice bull that 12 year old Madisen Child's took on this years youth elk hunt. They called this bull in from 800 yards and Madisen made a perfect 200 yard shot. Not bad for her first big game animal, dad is no doubt very proud!
Here's another big bull off of the youth hunt. 13 year old Ashlyn practiced shooting all summer long and her practice paid off when she bagged this bull at 253 yards. Dad Nathan says, they had no sooner left camp when this bull answered just a few hundred yards from away. The pack job was the easiest he'd ever had. A very thankful dad to be able to experience this with his daughter and kudos to the state for offering these youth hunting opportunities.
But our winner tonight covered 50 miles in 5 days, encountered different animals, experienced a lot of disappointment but persisted and it too paid off. Allison Barben drew her tag with only five points and finally on the last day of her hunt she snuck to within 20 yards and shot this bull while he was fighting another. All of her hard work and effort paid off and Allison is now a converted elk hunter. Allison says "Hunting elk is like having a bad boyfriend experience, you call and they don't call back. You pursue, and they avoid. You love them, but they won't love you back." She jokes, but in the same breath said, "I cannot believe how many life lessons the outdoors can teach you if you just get out."
