Andy Phillips, Devontae Booker awarded Player of the Week honors

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah place kicker Andy Phillips and running back Devontae Booker earned Player of the Week honors after their performances in a 29-23 win on the road against Oregon State.

Phillips was named the Pac-12 specialist Player of the Week Monday for his perfect 3-of-3 field goal attempts, with makes from 38, 43 and 46 yards out. Phillips has made 9-of-11 field goals of 40 or more yards out. His two misses beyond 40 yards are his only missed field goals of the season. Phillips is also a perfect 26-of-26 in PATs, making two against Oregon State.

Phillips ranks sixth in the nation in scoring, averaging 10.8 points per game. He is also fourth in the nation in made field goals per game, averaging 2.17. Phillips’ nine made field goals beyond 40 yards is the second best in the nation.

Booker was named the Athlon Sports National Player of the Week for his 229 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries. Booker’s 229 yards was the most from any running back in the country last week.

Booker has 742 rushing yards this season and seven touchdowns, and is averaging 6.18 yards per carry (22nd in the nation). Booker is 14th in the nation in rushing yards per game, averaging 123.7 per game. But in his last three starts, Booker has rushed for over 150 yards.

The Pac-12 honor is the second of the year for Phillips, who was named Pac-12 specialist Player of the Week on Sept. 22 for his performance against Michigan. Phillips also earned his second Lou Groza Star of the Week selection.

Booker and Nate Orchard were nominated for offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively. Other Utah players selected by the Pac-12 this season include Kaelin Clay, Gionni Paul, and Nate Orchard.
