BOZEMAN, Mont. — Every week, the Weber State Wildcats enter battle on the gridiron looking for their first win of the season.

So far, the Wildcats have come up empty handed each time, losing several games in disappointing fashion. Weber has competed in every game this season, but the grades for the team are starting to reflect the idea that it simply isn’t good enough. Critical mistakes and mental errors are beginning to cover up strong effort on the field.

Weber State's offense gained only 29 rushing yards in a 23-13 loss to Montana State.

Offense: C- -----------

The passing attack showed its chops once again, as three Wildcats combined to pass for 347 yards. However, the passing offense also combined for no touchdowns, and quarterback Billy Green threw an interception. The real negative side of the offense’s production was only gaining 29 rushing yards. No football team can run the ball for so few yards on the road, yet expect to walk away victorious.

Defense: B+

After the loss to Sacramento State, Weber State’s defense has easily been the best unit on the team. Since that game, the Wildcats haven’t been out of a game late in the fourth quarter, and much of the credit goes to the defense giving the offense opportunities to make plays and go win the game.

An impressive statistic from the Montana State game is the 160 passing yards the Bobcats had, a week after quarterback Dakota Prukop threw for 361 yards and four touchdowns.

Special Teams: D+

The Kehano fumble effectively ended the game, as it gave the Bobcats the ball deep in Weber’s territory. This mistake looms over any of the positive plays the unit made, including kicker Josh Kealamakia’s two field goals.

Team: C+

Once again, Weber State had a chance to win; once again, the Wildcats found a way to lose. There hasn't been a single game this season where all three units have played well for the Wildcats, and this time it was the offense's turn to struggle. That trend has to end for Weber to post a victory next week against Portland State.
