PROVO — Police are asking for help to identify a man who they believe broke into a parked car Sunday.
A purse and 9 mm handgun were stolen from a car in the Home Depot parking lot, located at 1550 South University Avenue, Sunday afternoon, according to the Provo Police Department. Investigators said the car’s window was broken while its owner was in the store for about 30 minutes.
“After checking their online bank account, the victim discovered that her debit card had recently been used at the Wal-Mart in Springville,” a post by Provo police on Facebook reads. “After contacting the shift manager at Wal-Mart, we were able to secure screenshots from surveillance cameras which show the suspect exiting the store.”
Investigators described the individual in the surveillance footage as being a white male who is about 35 years old. They said he was wearing a BYU baseball hat, but appeared to have auburn-colored hair with a full beard.
Those with information about the incident or identity of the man can contact the Provo Police Department at 801-852-6255.
