SALT LAKE CITY — When you hear about the sport of cricket, you're likely to think of England or Australia. But the centuries-old sport is steadily growing along the Wasatch Front.
Nasir Khan started the Intermountain Cricket League in the 1980s after emigrating from Pakistan to attend the University of Utah. Now, seven teams are competing for the league’s championship title.
Many of the players have come from India and Pakistan, where cricket remains very popular nearly 70 years after British rule ended.

The league also draws players from across the globe — including representatives from Asia, Africa, Australia, North America and South America. The Intermountain Cricket League wraps up its 2014 season on Oct. 12.
