PROVO — Police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run accident that critically injured a skateboarder Tuesday night.

The hit-and-run occurred near 2000 North and 550 West around 7:30 p.m., according to Provo police. Tyler Bullock, 22, was riding his skateboard along the road when he was hit by a passing vehicle. Witnesses told police the driver of the vehicle stopped momentarily after hitting Bullock, then drove away.

"It seemed pretty clear that the motorist knew there had been a collision," said Officer Brian Taylor of the Provo City Police Department.

Bullock was thrown to the side of the road by the impact and received serious head injuries. He was transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in critical condition, but was upgraded to serious but stable condition as of Wednesday night.

Taylor said leaving the scene of an accident is a serious offense.

Police describe the vehicle as a 1990s, "medium color" sedan. Anyone with information about the accident can contact the Provo Police Department at 801-852-6255.
