SALT LAKE CITY — BYU and Utah continued their undefeated streak last weekend, beating Virginia and Michigan, respectively. The other in-state schools had a rough weekend, losing to their respective opponents.

While there were several great players who showcased their talents, this week's player of the week is Utah linebacker Gionni Paul.

Player of the Week:

Gionni Paul, LB, Utah

In his debut with the Utes after suffering an injury in spring camp, Paul came out and looked to be in midseason form in Utah's 26-10 victory over Michigan. Paul lead the team with 14 total tackles, recovered a Michigan fumble late in the game and intercepted a pass with a diving grab.

In addition to Paul's stats, he was a noticeable presence on the defense, plugging holes and delivering pressure to Michigan's offense.

Honorable mentions

Scott Arellano, P, BYU

Arellano gave BYU a key edge in field position with a career game in BYU's 41-33 win over Virginia. He averaged a career-best 55.0 yards on five punts and tied his career high with four of his five punts being downed inside the 20-yard line.

Arellano also achieved a personal best with three punts of 60 or more yards, including a season-high 65-yard effort that was downed at the 12-yard line. He had punts of 65, 63, 60, 48 and 39. His final punt of 39 yards before Virginia's final possession pinned the Cavaliers at their own 2-yard line.

LT Filiaga, LB, Utah State

The junior linebacker and Utah transfer had 10 tackles, with a tackle for loss, a pass breakup and two fumble recoveries. His second fumble, which he also helped forced, gave Utah State the ball 45 yards from the end zone with 47 seconds left of a 14-14 tie at the end of regulation.

Sahydon Kehano, WR, Weber State

Kehano finished with two touchdowns in the Wildcats' 35-20 loss to Stephen F. Austin.
