OREM — Three women were hospitalized and a horse was euthanized Sunday following a crash on I-15.

About 11 a.m., three women were driving south on I-15 when their small passenger vehicle lost control and veered into the median, striking the concrete barrier. The vehicle then bounced back into traffic, where it was struck on the passenger side by a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer, according to Utah Highway Patrol trooper Evan Kirby.

All three women were transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, one of them with serious injuries, Kirby said.

Four people in the truck sustained minor injuries from airbags that deployed.

A veterinarian was called to treat three horses that were in the trailer pulled by the truck. Two of the horses were not seriously injured, but one had to be euthanized, according to Kirby.

Details of what caused the crash were unclear Sunday.
