BEAR LAKE — The body of a 62-year-old man who was reported missing after he failed to return from a trip to take photos near Bear Lake was found Thursday, police said.

Bert Singleton, of Malad, Idaho, was in the area to take pictures of the changing fall colors Wednesday, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said they believe he died from a fall in a mountainous area or a medical event, but the incident is still under investigation by the Utah Highway Patrol.

Singleton's vehicle was found by UHP troopers around 8 a.m. Thursday on Highway 89 in Logan Canyon, about 12 miles northeast of the city. A trooper "walked a few yards down the stream from the vehicle and located a body floating in the river," said Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Peterson in a statement.

His cell phone was last used near Lake Town at 11:26 a.m. Wednesday, according to investigators. He posted a video of the scenery to his Facebook page at about the same time.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
