CLEARFIELD — A former Clearfield High School agriculture teacher charged with sexually abusing a 17-year-old student has taken a plea deal.

Gaile Kristine Supp, 24, was charged in April 2013 with object rape, a first-degree felony, in 2nd District Court. The student told investigators she went to Supp's West Haven home to get help with homework. Instead, her teacher showed her a sexually explicit movie and sexually assaulted her, according to a probable cause statement.

On Sept. 3, Supp pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of sexual battery, a third-degree felony.

Prosecutors said they will recommend at sentencing, based on the wishes of the victim, that Supp not serve any jail or prison time and instead be given probation, according to court records. She must also stipulate to her teacher's certificate being revoked. Supp will not be required to register as a sex offender because of the conviction on a third-degree felony. She is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 29.

A four-day trial was originally scheduled to begin this week.
