SALT LAKE CITY — The Runnin’ Utes will have every one of its games televised this season, with a record 13 games being shown on the ESPN networks, according to the broadcast schedule that was released by the Pac-12 Monday night.
The Utes will have 14 of its games on the Pac-12 Networks, 13 on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU and an additional three games on Fox Sports 1. The increase in national exposure is telling considering the rising nature of the basketball program, particularly with senior guard Delon Wright listed as an expected top performer this season by several national media outlets.
Utah’s game against Wichita State will be featured on ESPN2, and games against San Diego State, BYU, Kansas and UNLV will be televised on one of the ESPN channels. Utah’s opening Pac-12 game on Jan. 2 against USC will be televised on ESPNU.
In the three seasons since joining the Pac-12, the Utes have only had five games televised on any ESPN channel. The games being televised on the ESPN networks is the most times the Utes will have been featured by the network in a single season. The Utes were shown 12 times on an ESPN channel during the 1999-2000 season and the 2003-04 season.
Utah will begin play against Pacific (Oregon) in an exhibition match on Thurs, Nov. 6 at 8:30 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
