EPHRAIM — As students return to college, many of them start living off of junk food — Twinkies, potato chips and, often at best, some Ramen noodles.

But Snow College is trying to help its students start the year with some healthy habits, enlisting the help of Drew Manning, a personal trainer.

Manning made headlines a couple of years ago when he intentionally quit working out and ate anything he wanted. In six months he gained 75 pounds, before working hard to get back in shape.

He wrote a book, "Fit2Fat2Fit," documenting his experience and what he learned.

Today he is challenging Snow College students to stay healthy during the school year, knowing it can be easy to start unhealthy habits in college.

"You are on a budget, tight schedule and you are all about convenience and what tastes good and what your friends are eating,” Manning said.

Manning told Snow College students to make a plan — what they shop for, what they eat and to make time to exercise. Good choices turn into habits he says will not only make them healthier, but happier and allow them to excel in school and in life.

"I wish I could go back and tell my former sell how important it is to start healthy habits now in college rather than later on in life when they are 30 or 40, and hopefully I can pass along what I have learned over the past couple of years with my fit to fat to fit experience.”

Manning plans to follow up with the students taking his “2 With Drew” challenge on Skype during the course of the school year.

He will return in April to see their progress and give awards to students who keep up with the challenge.
