WEST VALLEY CITY — Police are looking for a male suspect who attempted to rob a Subway and a Family Dollar Saturday morning before leaving both businesses without any money, police said.

The suspect entered a Subway located near 5600 West and 3500 South at 9:08 a.m. and asked for money but was told that there wasn't any in the store. He then went to a nearby Family Dollar, where he asked an employee for money, who told him he'd have to wait.

Instead of waiting, the suspect left the Family Dollar on foot, and witnesses say they saw him get into a white passenger car.

Police said they arrived at the Subway 10 minutes after the first attempted robbery.

The suspect is described by police as 5 feet 7 inches or 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a red University of Utah hoodie and glasses.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
