TEMPE, Ariz.- Weber State's keys to the game versus Arizona State were simple- don't make mistakes, and don't get injured.
And, while the Wildcats fell to the Sun Devils, 45-14, there was significant reason for Weber to take some positive feeling home to Ogden with how well they played in some respects.
For a team that struggled with inopportune turnovers at several times last season, Weber not committing a turnover against Arizona State is a positive step forward for the Wildcats. Obviously, not committing a turnover doesn't guarantee victory, but it is a habit that will benefit Weber State once they enter Big Sky play.
Anytime a team garners 32 first-downs in a game, it's a sign that the defense is clearly outmatched, whether physically or talent-wise.
Quite simply, Weber State won't be able to be successful if they give up four yards a rush, let alone over five. It's against a PAC-12 opponent, but the Wildcats still have to be cognizant of the need for improvement.
