EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — BYU football officials announced Thursday that cornerbacks Robertson Daniel and Jordan Johnson did not travel with the team to Connecticut due to being suspended for the season opener, according to a report.

Daniel and Johnson were both slated to start Friday night's game. Redshirt freshman Jordan Preator is listed as Daniel's backup at boundary corner on the Cougars' depth chart, while sophomore Michael Davis, who moved back to cornerback this summer earned No. 2 field corner status behind Johnson.

Jeff Call of the Deseret News reported the suspensions on Twitter.
