COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Police are asking for help to identify the individuals responsible for a recent rash of thefts at a construction site.
Thieves struck the construction site of a new building at the Cottonwood Heights Corporate Center, located at 2750 East and Cottonwood Parkway, on at least two nights, according to Cottonwood Heights police Sgt. Corbett Ford.
About $15,000 worth of copper and electrical connectors were stolen Aug. 18, Ford said. A welder valued at $5,000, plus $1,000 worth of copper, was stolen Aug. 8.
“Obviously when you have that amount of theft going on with those types of issues, all that does is just continue to create problems for everybody — for the community, for the construction company, for the owners,” Ford said.

Ford said there have been issues with vandalism at the corporate center before, but he doesn’t believe the vandalism is connected to the thefts.
