HEBER CITY — Police recovered a stolen vehicle involved in the theft of police equipment Friday night but are still searching for the missing equipment.

The stolen Toyota Corolla was found Sunday morning near 1700 S. Pearl Ave. in Salt Lake City, according to Heber City police officer Xela Thomas.

Thomas said detectives processed the vehicle for forensic evidence, but no stolen items have been recovered.

"It's important that we recover these items, that they get off the street, that they are not used in a crime," Thomas said.

On Friday night, thieves stole $10,000 worth of SWAT uniforms, ammunition and other kinds of police equipment, Thomas said.

They also burglarized another vehicle, and stole the Toyota Corolla.

“These are brazen criminals we would like to stop quickly," Heber Police Lt. Jason Bradley said earlier. "It’s important to find them and get the equipment back in the right hands.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Wasatch County dispatch line at 435-654-1411 or the Heber City Police Department at 435-654-3040.
