UINTAH COUNTY — A man, a woman and a girl were arrested Thursday after a high-speed chase near Fort Duchesne, police say.

A deputy with the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop the man driving the vehicle, 25-year-old Jarvis Cuch, for a lane violation, and Cuch briefly pulled over before speeding away and leading deputies and Bureau of Indian Affairs officers on a chase lasting more than 30 minutes, according to the Uintah County Sheriff's Cpl. Brian Fletcher.

Cuch, of Fort Duchesne, fled police along with a 25-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl inside the vehicle, and they threw objects out the windows while traveling at speeds exceeding 90 mph, Fletcher said.

As Cuch was driving, he struck a Uintah County Sheriff vehicle and nearly hit a deputy who was deploying spikes, which Cuch ran over, partially disabling the vehicle, according to Fletcher. Cuch continued up a dirt road north of Fort Duchesne and he and the two females abandoned the vehicle.

Deputies with K-9s located Cuch and the 16-year-old girl, and BIA officers found the 25-year-old woman. Cuch was booked into jail on charges of felony evading, assault on a peace officer and driving on suspension.

BIA officers took the two females into custody.
