TRUELAND — The story of the De La Salle High School football team will hit the big screen this week with the release of “When the Game Stands Tall.” The film hopes to inspire audiences with its true story.

If you can’t make it to the theater this weekend to check out “When the Game Stands Tall,” or maybe football’s not your thing, we’ve got you covered.

Here are some films that are streaming that tell an inspirational and entertaining story.

The Saratov Approach

The 2013 film "The Saratov Approach” tells the true story of two Mormon missionaries who were kidnapped in Russia and held for ransom.

The film was made on a shoestring budget so the filmmakers had to get creative on how to stretch their dollar. They were able to pull it off by focusing on the story and letting the emotionality of the actual events keep us enthralled.

The film may be about Latter-day Saint missionaries, but the story transcends religion and speaks to all of us as humans.

Corbin Allred and Maclain Nelson turn in great performances, as does Nikita Bogolyubov. Those three alone are worth watching the film for.

You can watch “The Saratov Approach” on Netflix.

The film is rated PG-13 and has an OK.com age rating of 12+ and a worth-your-time rating of 100 percent.

The Great Debaters

The 2007 film “The Great Debaters” stars Denzel Washington, who also directed the film, and tells the incredible true story of the first debate team at Wiley College in Texas in 1935.

The film explores racism, friendship and courage as the small team heads to the national championship to take on Harvard.

The movie focuses on a debate team, but it has the feel of some of the great sports movies that inspired us to never give up.

Washington and Forest Whitaker turn in great performances, but the film really belongs to its young cast.

“The Great Debaters” is rated PG-13 and has an OK.com age rating of 13+ and a 100 percent worth-your-time rating.

You can check out “The Great Debaters” on Amazon Prime Instant.

Valkyrie

The 2008 film “Valkyrie” stars Tom Cruise and tells the harrowing true story of courage and morality of Col. Claus von Stauffenberg.

Stauffenberg was a German officer during World War II and was a key plotter in an attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler.

The movie has pacing problems from time to time, but it’s hard to deny the heroism and valor these men displayed in trying to make the world a safer place.

Cruise leads an all-star cast that also includes Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Terrance Stamp and Eddie Izzard.

“Valkyrie” is rated PG-13 and has an OK.com age rating of 12+ and a worth-your-time rating of 100 percent.

You can watch “Valkyrie” in Amazon Prime Instant.

The King’s Speech

The 2010 film “The King’s Speech” captivated audiences around the world and took home the Oscar for best picture, not to mention three other Academy Awards including best actor, best director and best original screenplay.

The movie tells the story of King George VI and his battle with a speech impediment.

The movie is powerful, funny, touching, inspiring and beautiful. The story helps us remember that all of us have struggles, regardless of our position in life. It also reminds us of the power and strength we posses as human beings.

Colin Firth won the Academy Award for best actor, but you will not be able to take your eyes off of Geoffrey Rush as the king’s speech therapist.

“The King’s Speech” is rated R for a scene of strong language and has an age appropriateness rating of 12+ on OK.com. The film also has a 90 percent worth-your-time rating.

You can watch “The King’s Speech” on both Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant.
