SALT LAKE CITY- The Salt Lake Bees fell to the Round Rock Express 5-2 in their return to Smith's Ballpark Wednesday night. Caleb Clay (3-5) threw for seven innings but allowed 11 hits and five earned runs to take the loss. Yoslan Herrera chipped in a scoreless two innings for the Bees, but Round Rock starter Robbie Ross Jr. (5-4) picked up the win after tossing eight innings of two-run ball.

"(Ross) did a great job of hitting his spots," Salt Lake manager Keith Johnson said. "He was effectively pitching inside and mixing up speeds and mixing up locations and getting us to swing at his pitches. He made a lot of quality pitches."

Caleb Clay (3-5) threw for seven innings but allowed 11 hits and five earned runs to take the loss.

Both teams were scoreless in a quick first three innings before the Express brought all nine batters to the plate in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. The Bees put a tally on the board in bottom of the inning as Ryan Wheeler knocked an infield single with bases loaded to bring Luis Jimenez home. The visiting team collected one additional run in the fifth off a solo shot from Jared Hoying before the Bees retaliated with a run in the eighth off the bat of C.J. Cron. The home team put runners on first and second with no outs in the ninth, but were unable to capitalize.

The Bees will welcome the Read Today program tomorrow night at Smith's Ballpark, entertaining young Utah readers from throughout the state. For more information and tickets visit slbees.com.
