SANDY — A man surrendered himself to police Wednesday in connection to the sexual assault a juvenile in Target, police said.

James Scot Fullmer, 47, turned himself in after learning police were seeking his arrest, according to the Sandy Police Department. He was arrested on suspicion of forcible sexual abuse and will be booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, investigators said.

Police asked the public for help Monday to locate a man who allegedly groped a girl in Target on Aug. 7. The girl was shopping at the Target located at 10130 South State Street with a friend when a man she didn’t know approached her, according to investigators.

“He followed them around the store for a brief period, stepped in front of their path — stopping them on an aisle — spoke to them briefly and then sexually assaulted the juvenile female,” said Sandy police Sgt. Dean Carriger.

Investigators said they received numerous tips after the publication of store surveillance footage on local news.
