ALPINE — BYU basketball signee and former Lone Peak standout Nick Emery returned home from an LDS church mission Wednesday after complications from a pre-existing condition.

Emery arrived home from his mission in Frankfurt, Germany after "worsening conditions of thoracic outlet syndrome," according to his family's mission blog. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard will seek medical treatment, which may include surgery, after arriving in Salt Lake City on Wednesday.

Emery was granted a medical release from his mission, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Thoracic outlet syndrome is pressure in the neck against nerves and blood vessels that go to the arm and cause tingling, pain, numbness and weakness, according to WebMD.com.

Older brother Jackson Emery, who played for the Cougars from 2005-11 and also served a mission, released the following statement on his Twitter page:

My brother Nick, will be home tonight. He received a medical release from his mission to deal with an ongoing issue that he had pre-mission — Jackson Emery (@jacksonemery04) August 6, 2014

He will be tested and from there they will determine the diagnosis and if he needs surgery. Thanks for your support and prayers. — Jackson Emery (@jacksonemery04) August 6, 2014

The elder Emery then included a photo of the recently returned missionary.

He looks good. Glad to have him home but time for him to get better http://t.co/VaVA76s8w0 — Jackson Emery (@jacksonemery04) August 7, 2014
