SOUTH JORDAN — Police are asking for help to locate a man who they say pulled a gun on a security guard Monday.

Store security personnel at Wal-Mart, located at 11328 S. Jordan Gateway, approached 37-year-old Dennis James Monard for possible retail theft, according to the South Jordan Police Department. They said he then pulled a handgun on the security guard and left the store.

He was seen leaving in a white Ford pickup truck with black wheels and raised suspension, according to police. Officers responded to the scene at 8 p.m. and found the truck in a neighborhood west of Wal-Mart a short time later, investigators said.

Monard is a known gang member who should be considered armed and extremely dangerous, according to police. Investigators described him as being a white male who is 6 foot 1 and weighs 160 pounds.

He also has hazel eyes and tattoos on his arms, legs and neck. He either has short brown hair or is bald, according to investigators.

Police directed anyone with information about Mondard's location to avoid contacting him and immediately call 911. Those with general information about Monard can call dispatch at 801-840-8400.
