PROVO — Time Money recently ranked the nation’s top colleges and Brigham Young University made the list. Time Money ranked the top 50 colleges overall and then further ranked the schools into categories such as ‘most affordable’.

BYU ranked ninth overall and fifth in the most affordable category.

Time Money determined how to rank the nation’s 1,500 four-year schools in the overall category by using three main factors: quality of education, affordability, alumni outcomes and then other sub-factors.

According to Time Money, BYU's estimated net price for a degree is $82,000, which is lowest on the overall best colleges list. The early career earnings for the university are $50,000 within five years of graduating. That is $2,700 more than schools with students with similar test scores and economic backgrounds.

BYU is ninth overall on the top colleges list with schools such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton, Stanford and Harvard beating BYU out. The No. 1 overall ranking went to Babson College, a small school outside of Boston.

BYU also ranked fifth in the most affordable category with an average student debt of $3,750 and the average net price for a degree at $82,000. Berea College in Kentucky won the top spot with an estimated net price for a degree at $49,000.

This isn’t the first time BYU has been ranked. U.S. News and Forbes previously ranked the university in various categories.
