Man playing basketball stabbed after yelling at ‘reckless’ driver, police say

WEST JORDAN — A man was transported to the hospital in critical condition after being stabbed Wednesday, police said.

A group was playing basketball outside of Aspen Pines Apartments, located at 7366 Redwood Rd., when at least two vehicles drove through the area recklessly at about 9:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Joe Monson of the West Jordan Police Department.

A fight broke out after the basketball players yelled at the drivers, he said. One basketball player, a man, was stabbed at least twice and transported to the hospital in critical condition, Monson said.

His name has not yet been released and the incident is still under investigation.
