COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Police believe a man who robbed a Maverik in South Salt Lake Wednesday may have robbed a Cottonwood Heights Taco Bell Sunday.

Around 9 p.m. Sunday, a man entered a Taco Bell located at 1962 E. Fort Union Blvd., brandishing a handgun and demanding money. Employees complied to his demands, handing over an undisclosed sum of cash.

It is believed he fled on foot westbound on Fort Union Boulevard.

Officers responded to the robbery and, using surveillance images, determined the man matched the description of a man involved in a July 16 robbery at a South Salt Lake Maverik store.

In the Wednesday robbery, the man walked up to a female clerk in the Maverik convenience store, located at 2700 S. Main Street, at about 11:30 p.m., according to the South Salt Lake Police Department. He demanded cash after brandishing a black handgun and pointing it at the woman, investigators said.

The man in both robberies was described as a white or Hispanic man in his 30s or 40s. In both cases, the robber was wearing a two-toned yellow and purple or other dark color hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call 801-840-4000. Callers can ask for either South Salt Lake or Cottonwood Heights police.
