LAS VEGAS — With a day off since a victory over the Denver Nuggets, the Utah Jazz returned to action to face the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the Summer League tournament.

Although close for much of the game, the Jazz fell to the Spurs with a fourth- quarter rally, losing 86-77 behind a 20-point performance by San Antonio forward Austin Daye.

Jazz forward Rodney Hood stepped back into the offensive spotlight, leading the Jazz in scores with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and five rebounds. Although Hood has had hot and cold performances in the four games of the summer, Hood appears to be an instant impact player for the Jazz moving forward.

Center Rudy Gobert was back in the lineup after missing Tuesday’s game as a result of a sore shoulder. Gobert came out aggressive and quickly scored eight of the team’s first 12 points. He finished the game with 12 points, six rebounds and one blocked shot.

Also scoring in double figures for the Jazz was second-year point guard Trey Burke, who had 12 points, three assists and two steals. Although Burke hasn’t done much in the way off offense this summer, his leadership presence has been the biggest factor to help the young players as they develop and mature in the NBA.

The Jazz will play Portland in the consolation bracket of the double- elimination tournament Friday.
