BAJA CALIFORNIA PENINSULA — Wildlife often awes and inspires us and a video of a sea turtle returning to its rescuers gives another illustration of the beauty of nature.
Colin Sutton and Cameron Dietrich were spearfishing for tuna about 36 miles off the coast of Baja, Mexico, according to Dominican Republic social news site Lifestyle Cabarete. Dietrich said he saw something in the water that “did not seem right."
“I saw a turtle that looked like it was stuck in the line so I jumped in,” Dietrich told Lifestyle Cabarete.
Sutton captured the moment on his GoPro camera. The stunning video shows Dietrich untangle ropes from the left fin of a large sea turtle. The turtle begins swimming away, but then turns around and returns to Dietrich.
“It just seemed to want to come back and say, ‘hi’ and spend a moment before it swam off into the blue,” Dietrich said. “It was a really neat experience.”
