Bees lose series finale at El Paso

EL PASO, TX.- The El Paso Chihuahuas rallied from a three run deficit to edge the Salt Lake Bees 5-4 on Sunday night to avoid being swept in the three game series. The Bees led 4-1 in the fifth when El Paso plated two runs to pull to within one. In the sixth, Cody Decker led off with a double off of Bees' reliever Kyler Newby (0-1) that bounced off of the third base bag. He advanced to third on a single to left by Alex Castellano and scored on Rocky Gale's sacrifice fly to tie the game with Castellano advancing to second on an errant throw. He would move to third on a ground out and scored the eventual winning run on a single to right by Reymond Fuentes, his fourth hit of the game. For the Chihuahuas, it was their first lead of the three game set.


Bees' starter Justin Thomas labored through five innings, as he allowed three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

Salt Lake jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI bunt single by Shawn O'Malley. John Hester made it 3-0 in the second with a two run homer, his fourth of the season. After El Paso scored in the third to make it 3-1, Luis Jimenez' solo homer in the fifth, his 16th of the season, once again gave the Bees a three run lead. Bees' starter Justin Thomas labored through five innings, as he allowed three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
