BRIGHAM CITY — Firefighters battled a large fire at the abandoned Baron Woolen Mills building, 56 N. 500 East.

While KSL News confirmed the fire with Box Elder County emergency dispatchers Sunday evening, details on the size of the blaze and what started it were not immediately available.

KSL.com iWitness users sent in photos showing both the massive fire and a huge plume of smoke hovering above the city. Some of those photos show the inside of the building destroyed.

The fire appeared to be mostly out by 10:45 p.m.

Half of the abandoned building dated back to 1870. Former owner Dale Baron called it "a devastating loss."

The Baron Woolen Mills building was built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1870 and operated privately for another 100 years. The abandoned mill is actually considered one of the most haunted places in Utah.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
