GREAT BEND, Kansas — Police have identified a Utah man who died in a plane crash in Kansas over the weekend.

Police said Daniel Bishop, 24, from Clearfield, Utah, was flying in a plane with his girlfriend's father, Roger Brining, when it went down Sunday morning, Wibw.com reports.

The plane was an experimental amateur-built Schreiber P-70, Kansas.com said.

“This morning my dad's plane malfunctioned and crashed 2 miles west of Great Bend,” Brining's daughter Rachel Mawhirter wrote in a Facebook post. “He and my sister's boyfriend both passed away. Dad was a fantastic pilot and an even better father and husband. He will be so greatly missed in so many people's lives.”

National Transportation Safety Board investigators are still determining the cause of the crash.
