OGDEN — An autistic boy who ran away from a school in Ogden called his mom from Houston Friday, according to school officials.

Tyler Daniels, 17, ran away from Waterfall Canyon Academy on May 30, according to school administrators. The school specializes in helping children with autism spectrum disorders and other behavioral challenges.

His parents live in Houston and flew out to Utah to help launch a search party in Salt Lake City and Ogden Thursday. They also hired a private investigator.

Tyler took a Greyhound bus to Houston, according to the school. His father said he is currently trying to book a flight home to Texas.
