SALT LAKE CITY — From the tabernacle on Temple Square, to the Cathedral of the Madeleine, to Calvary Baptist Church, Utahns celebrated Easter Sunday.

Many messages were heard about giving thanks, thinking about what we have and thinking about how we can help others.

The Trinity A.M.E. Community Church, 239 E. 600 South, held a sunrise service on Easter Sunday. The Rev. France Davis, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, was the keynote speaker.

"There's no excuse for the richest nation in the world to have people who are hungry,” Rev. Davis said.

Lloyd D. Newell of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offered a similar message.

“We can start today by finding someone to encourage, to help or to uplift,” he said. “Especially at this Easter season when we celebrate renewal and rebirth, when we rejoice in the promise of the abundance of the life offered by the master who went about doing good.”
