TAYLORSVILLE — Unified police arrested a man in connection with a Taylorsville murder.
On April 16, police received calls from family members of Margaret Steffey reporting her missing. Officers responded to her home and discovered Steffey’s body. Evidence at the scene led police to believe the death was suspicious.
Autopsy results indicated Steffey’s cause of death was suffocation.
Investigators discovered one of Steffey’s missing ATM cards was still being used. Detectives determined that Bryan Steve Quintanilla, an 18-year-old transient, was the person likely using the missing ATM card.
Police obtained a search warrant for his vehicle and found a passport and a plane ticket for Quintanilla to go to Central America.
Quintanilla was booked on multiple charges, including aggravated murder.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about the crime, saw anything suspicious in the area of the crime, or knows of any contacts that the owner had, to call 365-468-9816.
