If you are anything like RoJack out on the golf course, chances are your golf ball magically finds its way over to the nearest sand trap - usually without passing go and collecting the $200.

Don't worry, you are not alone. This week's Uinta Golf Tip of the Week question comes from Pat B. in Sandy: How do you hit the ball out of the bunker when you have an uneven stance - one foot in and one foot out?

Grab your beach towel and follow along as Mark Whetzel, the Director of Golf at Thanksgiving Point, helps us out.

Here are three great tips to help you execute a bunker shot with an uneven stance:

  • First: Assess the shot. For example, if you are hitting a greenside bunker shot that forces your stance to slope uphill, consider clubbing up. The shot itself, because of your back foot being lower than your golf ball, will automatically create more loft, so ditch that 60 degree wedge for a 56.
  • Second: Practice the same shot out of the bunker. If you are hitting a bunker shot with an uphill stance, try some practice swings under those same conditions outside the bunker with your weight on your back foot. Downhill lie? Flip the cards and put your weight more on your front foot. Try to recreate the same scenario to give yourself a good feel for when you step back into the bunker.
  • Third: Keep your lower body (even your hips and knees) quiet. Focus on creating the swing with just your upper body. You are not going to be able to produce your normal swing with an uneven stance in a bunker. By not having the full golf swing with weight transfer will help with your balance.

Practice it, we guarantee it works.

For using your question you will receive a dozen of the new Nike RZN black golf balls. Go to any of the Uinta Golf stores to pick up your prize.
