TAYLORSVILLE — Police discovered a body at a Taylorsville home Tuesday, and are calling the death "suspicious."

The Unified Police Department received a call to check up on a residence around 7:30 a.m. near 3900 W. Blue Meadow Dr. Family members reported that they hadn't seen or talked to the owner of the home since April 12. They believed the 59-year-old woman to be missing, according to Unified police.

During the investigation of the house, officers discovered a body. Based on evidence at the scene, lead officers indicated the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers were unable to confirm if the body was that of the reported missing woman. Police did not have any persons of interest in the ongoing investigation Wednesday, according to UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal.

A search warrant was obtained around 1:30 p.m., and homicide detectives were gathering evidence at the home throughout the day. Investigators found no damage to any exterior property that would indicate a forced entry into the home.

Neighbors said the resident of the home is a widow who mostly keeps to herself.

"The only time she ever comes outside is to garden in her yard and make tea," neighbor Jade Shell said. "It's sad that nobody (in the neighborhood) knew her enough to even know that she was alive. That's so sad."

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be posted as it becomes available.
