RICHMOND, Cache County — A barn fire in Richmond caused $50,000 in damage and killed "a number of goats," according to the Cache County Fire District.

The fire was reported near 1100 North and 2300 East before 9 p.m.

Several crews were called to fight the blaze, including crews from Logan, North Logan, Richmond, Smithfield, Lewiston and Newton, said Jason Winn, Fire Marshal for Cache County Fire District.

Fire crews have been released from the scene, but they believe the hay inside the barn will continue to smolder overnight.

No other structures were threatened by the fire, and no injuries were reported, Winn said.

Damage is estimated to be $50,000, including the loss of the structure and the hay and goats inside.

The fire is currently under investigation.
