CACHE COUNTY — A West Jordan man was killed Saturday morning when the vehicle he was driving went off the road and crashed near the mouth of Sardine Canyon.

Dispatchers received a call just after 8 a.m., Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said. The caller reported seeing a body in a field along state Route 91 near the northern mouth of Sardine Canyon.

Cache County sheriff’s deputies and UHP troopers responded to the area and found the body of Weston Robert Love, 25, of West Jordan, Perry said. They also found Love’s 2011 Gray Jeep Cherokee crashed nearby, he said.

Nobody witnessed the accident, but investigators believe it probably happened after 7 a.m. because the Jeep's engine was still warm, Perry said.

The lieutenant said investigators believe Love was traveling on the inside lane when he drifted onto the rumble strips. From there, they think he panicked, veered right and spun off the road.

The vehicle then "hit at a sharp incline about 20 feet off the road, went airborne, and at that point came down and hit a large fence," Perry said.

The Jeep sheered off the top of a 6-inch-thick fence post and crashed into a ditch filled with rocks, Perry said. Love was ejected from the Jeep and landed about 120 feet in front of it, he said.

Investigators believe speed played a role in the crash, Perry said.

"The speed limit is 60 miles an hour, and we were able to determine his speed was approximately 90 miles an hour," Perry said.

Investigators were working to determine whether intoxication, fatigue or sun glare may have played a roll in the crash, Perry said.

Love was the subject of a short documentary filmed in 2012 called I Dance U Smile featuring his work as a street dancer in West Jordan.
