WEST POINT — A barricaded standoff ended in a West Point home without incident and two have been arrested, said Davis County Sheriff's Office.

The incident began just before 7:30 a.m. when shots fired were reported in the area of 1500 North and 3775 West, the sheriff's office reported. Deputies arrived on scene, heard another shot fired and observed individuals going into a home.

When deputies requested the individuals come outside of the home, the people inside refused. At that point, deputies began treating the situation as a barricade, Sheriff Todd Richardson said.

SWAT responded, assisting Davis County Sheriff's Office in negotiations and securing the area.

Richardson said that during the inside, everyone inside the home denied that there was a problem in the home.

During talks, two individuals left the home.

"These individuals didn't want to have anything to do with what's going on," Richardson said.

The two did not give any details to officers about the situation inside or how the incident began. Initial reports from neighbors indicated a domestic dispute, but neighbors could not give specifics about it, the sheriff's office reported. Richardson said drugs or alcohol could be involved, as well.

Five people total eventually came out of the house about 4 hours after the incident began.

SWAT served a search warrant and entered the home. At first police reported they found no immediate evidence of shots fired, but they have since found a shotgun in the home. However, they do not immediately know if the shotgun was fired.

Richardson said they have also arrested a male and a female, both in their mid-20s, on drug charges related to the investigation.

The home is in a cul de sac, so traffic on the main road is unimpeded as police finish their investigation, Richardson said.
