LOGAN — A 47-year-old Providence man died after an apparent medical emergency in a Cache County Jail cell Wednesday, less than 24 hours after he was arrested.

Jail records show that Bradley Roach was booked just before midnight Tuesday for investigation of discharging a firearm within city limits, carrying a weapon while under the influence, intoxication and criminal mischief.

Jail officials were with Roach, who was arranging to post bail, less than two minutes before he collapsed about 5:15 p.m., Cache County Sheriff Lynn Nelson said. When they returned they found him on the ground, and deputies and medical staff immediately attempted to render aid.

Roach was taken by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Davis County Sheriff's Office will conduct an outside investigation into Roach's death with assistance from the state medical examiner's office.
