ST. GEORGE (AP) — A 6-year-old boy who was attacked by a pit bull is recovering after undergoing through three surgeries to repair damage to his face and leg.

The Spectrum of St. George reports Juan Castillo Argumedo had surgery on his leg and skin grafts on his face. The boy was bitten by the dog on Nov. 17 as he and his friend were walking through a neighboring yard.

The boy's friend, Vincent Barrick, pulled the dog's collar to get him off his friend. The boy's grandfather arrived soon after and hit the dog, ending the attack.

The boy's father, Silvano Castillo, says the stitches have been removed from his son's face and that he has no infections. The boy is staying home from school with his mother until he's fully recovered.
