BOISE — A man accused of stealing two trucks and leading police on a chase throughout the Salt Lake Valley has been taken into custody, police say.

Late Wednesday night, police responded to a report of a charge on a stolen credit card at a Boise area motel. Kristie L. Nuneviller, 30, of Salt Lake City was accused of using the card. Nuneviller was checking into the hotel with Travis McDonald of Bountiful.

The credit card owner contacted Boise authorities, who went to a hotel on the 2200 block of West Airport Way just after 10:30 p.m.

"Officers searched the area and found a woman matching the female suspect's description in the hotel parking lot with another male, both getting luggage out of a Toyota SUV," Boise police reported.

Police arrested McDonald, Utah Motor Vehicle Enforcement spokesman Charlie Roberts said. Nuneviller tested positive for methamphetamine.

Officers claim McDonald had driven a stolen vehicle to the motel. When they searched the vehicle, they found a gun, drugs, fake IDs and "a ton" of stolen merchandise.

Police interviewed McDonald in the back of a police squad car. When he got out of the car to leave, the officer noticed a baggie containing meth and heroin that wasn't there before, according to court records. The officer also found a stolen gun and a stolen set of spinal surgery implants worth about $20,000, court records state.

Utah officials are working to extradite McDonald to the state. McDonald is accused of stealing a pickup truck and a utility truck from the west side of the Salt Lake Valley in the past two weeks.

On Nov. 7, police chased McDonald in the utility truck throughout the valley, eventually evacuating a Home Depot to search for him and surrounding a motel before losing his tracks.

In 2006, McDonald was sentenced to prison in a string of cases that ultimately resulted in convictions of attempted felony theft and making a fraudulent financial transaction.

McDonald was first incarcerated at the Utah State Prison in March of 2006 and was released in November of 2008. He returned to prison in March of 2009 and was released again in June of 2011.

He was most recently released from prison in March after being sent back in September of 2011.

Nuneviller has been charged with drug possession, forgery and false impersonation. McDonald has been charged with grand theft, drug possession, false impersonation and carrying a concealed weapon without a license. Both are currently booked in the Ada County Jail.
