SALT LAKE CITY — Former Republican Vice-Presidential Candidate, Sarah Palin, has a new book that will be sold in stores Tuesday. The book defends what she calls the assault on Christmas.
KSL received an exclusive interview with Palin about her book, "Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas". Palin also talked about Utah Senator Mike Lee and his role in the government shutdown.
"Mike Lee. I'm on team Mike Lee," Palind said. "And Utah, thank you so much for sending him to the United States Senate to stand up and fight for our county."
Lee's fight helped lead to the government shutdown which resulted in costing taxpayers and estimated $27 billion. Despite that, Palin credits Lee and Senator Ted Cruz for keeping the focus on the Affordable Care Act — a program she calls socialized medicine.
"(It has) allowed us to see that problems will result in Obamacare," she said.
Palin bristled at any suggestion that Lee could lose his senate seat in 2016 as a result of his role in the government shutdown and for his subsequent voter wariness of some Tea Party candidates.
"Mike Lee will not lose his senate seat," Palin said. "Mike Lee is recognized around the nation and certainly there in Utah as being a common sense conservative &mash; not a radical."
Palin was non-committal when asked about her political future. She said she loves what she currently does — without having a title.
