TAYLORSVILLE — Police have located the home where a man was shot during a home invasion Wednesday.

Police could not immediately identify where the alleged break-in took place, because no one reported a home invasion or hearing shots fired. They have since determined that the incident occurred at 5163 Applewood Drive in Taylorsville.

Detectives from South Salt Lake Police and the Unified Police Department have been working together on the case.

On Oct. 9, Nicholas T. Monte, 23, was brought to Pioneer Valley Hospital by a friend after he had been shot. He died later that day.

Officials said they believe that Monte; Geno Alex Gonzales, 22; Jose M. Mendoza, 22; and Alfred Gomez, 34 forcibly entered the residence, intending to rob the owner of money and drugs.

Police searched the residence and said they identified the crime scene and recovered a firearm, drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The homeowner, whose name has not yet been released, is cooperating with the police. He has not been arrested at this time, but police say that he remains a suspect in the case.

Gonzalez was arrested Wednesday in connection with the case. His booking charges have been amended to aggravated burglary and the obstruction of justice.

Mendoza was arrested on Friday night and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for aggravated burglary and the obstruction of justice.

Police have yet to locate Gomez. They are asking the public for information on his whereabouts. If you have information in connection with this case, call UPD at 801-743-5844.
