CEDAR CITY — A man was seriously injured after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle at an intersection near the Southern Utah University campus.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 800 W. and 200 South, according to Cedar City Police. The driver of the motorcycle was Scott Moxon, a freshman from Provo attending Southern Utah University. He was flown to a hospital in Las Vegas in critical condition.

The accident was witnessed by Megan Maloney, a junior studying elementary education from Las Vegas, according to the SUU News. Maloney said a male on a motorcycle was traveling west on 200 South when a female driving a blue Sedan traveling east on the same street attempted to make a left turn onto 800 West.

Maloney said she didn't think the driver of the sedan saw the motorcycle when she made the turn. Maloney said the turn was made early, causing the motorcycle to collide with the front of the vehicle.

As soon as she witnessed the accident, Maloney said she called police.

"I used OnStar in my car to make the call," Maloney told the SUU News. "The driver of the motorcycle seemed extremely disoriented after the crash, like he didn't know where he was or what had happened."

Police said the accident caused the road to temporary be down from 200 South to 900 West in order for emergency crews to tend to the victim of the motorcycle and clean up the accident site.
