SALT LAKE CITY — This Saturday, Christian Cox, Braden Godfrey and Mike Wright will help kids learn how to get recruited.
They are holding a combine-style camp at Olympus High School in Holladay to teach kids how to become better at six events that are also held at the NFL combine.
The 40-yard dash, bench press, shuttle run, vertical jump, broad jump and 3 cone drill are the events that we see every March from former college players trying to get drafted into the NFL.
While that is certainly a good cause, it has nothing on what everyone at the camp will in turn donate to, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Cox will be joining the UTEcast Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. to tell us more about the camp. Cox played for the Utes for three seasons from 2008-10. He finished his career with 9.5 sacks and later signed on with the New England Patriots.
Godfrey played for the Utes for three seasons from 2006-08, with his final game being the Sugar Bowl victory over Alabama. He had six receptions for 75 yards in the bowl win, including an 18-yard touchdown.
Wright played for the Utes from 2006-09. He originally walked on to the team but earned a scholarship in 2008. He was two-time honorable mention all-conference.
