COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — On Saturday morning, Tyler Haws got the good news that he was part of the 12-man Team USA squad that will compete in the World University Games in Russia.
Greg Wrubell and I have been covering the 26-man tryout since Thursday and as expected Haws has impressed with his shooting ability.
The above video is a shooting drill where Tyler Haws drains 28 international 3-pointers in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
The international line is 22' 1.75". The NCAA line is 20' 9". That extra foot-and-a-half may not seem like a lot, until you shoot non-stop for a couple minutes.
Haws finished the drill hitting 28-of-41 for 68.2%. That is a make every 5.3 seconds.
Of course, this isn't record setting, just a glimpse into an everyday shooting drill.
