SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah men's basketball program has announced the addition of Connor Van Brocklin for the 2013-14 season.
"We are very excited to add another quality player and person from the great state of Utah," Runnin' Ute head coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "Connor brings great shooting skills and maturity to our program."
Van Brocklin, a 6'5" wing, recently completed his sophomore season at Snow College. A deadly outside shooter, Van Brocklin led the Badgers in scoring this season with an average of 15.9 points per game including an average of 2.5 three-pointers per game. He was also a Second Team All-Scenic Western Athletic Conference selection this past year.
"Coach Krystkowiak said I could come in and fight for a spot and try to earn a scholarship this fall," Van Brocklin said. "I've always dreamed of playing at this level and my father played football here at Utah."
The Fruit Heights, Utah native starred locally at Davis High School under head coach Jay Welk. He helped the Darts to a 2008 Class 5A semifinal appearance before redshirting at Salt Lake Community College and going on his two-year LDS mission.
Van Brocklin joins East guard Parker Van Dyke as two local recruits on the Utah team this season. That brings the total of area standouts on the Ute roster to five as the incoming duo joins Jordan Loveridge (West Jordan), Xan Ricketts (Brighton) and Alex Mortenson (Springville) on the squad.
