VERNAL — A 7-year-old girl suffered head and leg injuries Tuesday after police say she darted out between two parked cars and was hit by another vehicle.
The accident happened just before noon near 410 East and 600 South, Assistant Vernal Police Chief Keith Campbell said.
Investigators determined the driver could not have stopped in time to avoid striking the child because the girl darted directly into the path of the woman's vehicle, Campbell said.
"It does not appear that speed or any other conditions contributed to the accident," he said.
The girl was taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center by ambulance and then flown to Primary Children's Medical Center for additional treatment. An update on her condition was not available Tuesday night.
