SALT LAKE CITY — Two men impersonating police officers are accused of robbing a jewelry store Tuesday morning.

Around 11:05 a.m., two men dressed in light blue polo shirts and dark pants entered The Jewelers Guild on 703 E. 600 South. They claimed to be police officers, and had weapons, Salt Lake City police said.

The men even turned away potential customers from the store during the robbery, police said.

The two accused robbers left the store without injury with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

Police are looking for more information about the men as well as a possible vehicle description. They are also asking the public to be on alert for anyone trying to sell or get rid of a large amount of jewelry.

They described the first man as a muscular black adult, between 6-feet-4-inches and 6-feet-6-inches tall, weighing between 220 and 240 pounds. His hair was in dreadlocks and a ponytail during the robbery.

The second robber, police said, was a 6-foot 2-inch tall white man, weighing between 200 and 220 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Salt Lake police at 801-799-3000 or send an anonymous tip by texting TIPSLCPD along with any information and case number 13-85452 to CRIMES (274637).
